Why we built NkemLove

Most dating apps optimize for one thing: getting you to keep swiping. We think that's backwards. The whole point of a dating app should be helping you leave it — for a real conversation, a real phone call, and eventually a real date, with someone who's actually genuine about being there. That idea is what everything else in NkemLove gets built around.

So instead of an endless, low-effort swipe deck, we built a platform where discovering someone, liking them, matching, messaging, and actually talking (by voice or video) are all part of one connected flow, not five separate apps stitched together. If you match with someone and you both want to talk right now, you can — audio or video, right from the conversation.

Who NkemLove is for

NkemLove is for adults 18 and older who are looking for something real — whether that's a serious relationship, meaningful conversation, or just genuinely getting to know someone new, rather than collecting matches you never talk to. We built discovery around location and shared interests so the people you see are realistically reachable, not just aspirational profiles from the other side of the world.

How we think about trust and safety

Dating online means trusting a stranger faster than you would almost anywhere else in life, and we don't take that lightly. That's why NkemLove includes blocking and reporting that actually reach a human, not just a dead-end form; two levels of verification — a basic email/phone check and an optional, more rigorous ID verification badge reviewed by our own safety team; automatic detection for common romance-scam language and reused/stolen profile photos, which we know are two of the most common tactics used against people on dating platforms; and clear, published rules about what is and isn't allowed, enforced by real moderation, not just an algorithm nobody checks.

We're honest that no platform can guarantee who someone really is on the other end of a conversation — anyone telling you otherwise is overselling it. What we can do, and what we've actually built, are real tools that make bad actors more visible and easier to stop quickly, and we keep investing in that, not just at launch but on an ongoing basis.

What you can actually do on NkemLove

Build a real profile with photos and a short video, browse people near you or in a place you choose, like, love, and follow people you're interested in, match when someone likes you back, message with text, photos, and voice notes, jump into an audio or video call with a match, send a fun gift during a call or chat to show interest, and go Premium if you want unlimited calling and chatting without the per-minute Coin cost. Every one of those features exists because we thought it mattered to actually getting to know someone — not because it was easy to build.

Where we're headed

NkemLove is still growing, and we'd rather ship fewer features that genuinely work well than a long list of half-finished ones. If there's something you wish the app did differently, we actually want to hear about it — reach out through our Help Center, and a real person will read it.
