1. Who we are and what this policy covers

NkemLove is a dating platform for adults, and this page explains, in plain language, what information we collect about you when you use it, why we collect it, and what say you have over it. We wrote this to actually be read, not just published and forgotten, so if a section feels unclear at any point, that's on us — email us at the address at the bottom of this page and we'll fix it.

This policy applies to everyone who visits nkemlove.com, creates an account, or uses the NkemLove app, whether you're just browsing the public pages or you're a paying member. If you're located in the European Union, the United Kingdom, or anywhere with its own data protection law, the rights described further down apply to you specifically, and we've tried to call those out where relevant.

Nkemlove, the operator of NkemLove, is the data controller responsible for your information. Our registered address is 18 Rue Professeur Tavernier, Lyon, France, and our jurisdiction of incorporation is France. If any of this changes, we'll update it here.

2. The information we collect, and why

We try to only ask for what we actually need to run the service well and keep it safe. Here's the breakdown, grouped by what it's used for rather than as one long undifferentiated list.

Account and profile information

  • Your email address and password (stored as a secure hash, never in plain text) — needed so you can log in and so we can reach you about your account.
  • Your display name, date of birth, gender, who you're interested in meeting, city and country — this is what makes matching and discovery actually work, and your date of birth is also how we confirm you meet our 18+ minimum age.
  • Your profile photos and any short videos you upload — the core of how other members get to know you before deciding to connect.
  • Your bio, interests, and anything else you choose to add to your profile.

Identity and age verification documents

  • If you choose to complete optional identity verification, we collect a photo of a government-issued ID document and a live selfie for comparison. This is sensitive information, and we treat it that way: it's stored separately from your public profile photos, it is never shown to other members, and it is only ever accessed by our safety team reviewing your submission.
  • We keep this evidence only as long as needed to complete the review and to maintain a record that verification occurred, and then in line with our data retention practice described further down.

Messages, calls, and gifts

  • The content of messages you send, including text, photos, and voice messages, so the conversation actually works and so we can investigate abuse reports.
  • Call metadata — who called whom, when, how long the call lasted, and whether it was audio or video. We do not record or store the actual audio or video of your calls.
  • Records of gifts sent and received, and any Coins spent on paid or locked content, so your wallet balance and transaction history stay accurate.

Payment information

  • When you buy Coins or subscribe to Premium, your payment is handled directly by our payment processors (Stripe and PayPal). We receive confirmation that a payment succeeded and basic transaction details — we do not receive or store your full card number.

Device and technical information

  • Your IP address, browser type, device type, and general technical logs, used for security (like detecting suspicious login activity), fraud prevention, and keeping the service running reliably.
  • If you enable push notifications, the browser subscription details needed to deliver them to your device — nothing more.

Location

  • Your city and country, either entered by you or estimated from your connection, used to show you people nearby and to enforce age and country eligibility rules. We do not track your precise real-time GPS location.

4. How we use your information

Put simply, we use what we collect to: create and run your account; show your profile to compatible members and show you theirs; power messaging, calls, gifts, and paid content; process Coin purchases and Premium subscriptions; verify age and, where you opt in, identity; investigate reports and enforce our community standards; detect and prevent scams, fake accounts, and abuse; send you service-related notifications (like a new message alert or a missed call); and improve the product based on how it's actually used.

We do not use your private messages, your ID verification documents, or your call metadata to build advertising profiles, and we do not sell your personal data to advertisers or data brokers.

5. Who we share information with

We share information in a narrower set of situations than most people expect, and we've listed all of them here rather than hiding the exceptions in a "may include but is not limited to" catch-all.

Other members

  • Your public profile, the photos and videos you choose to make public, and messages you send to a specific person are visible to the people you interact with. That's the product working as intended — we're not describing this as a "third party disclosure" to be alarming, just being complete.

Service providers who help us run NkemLove

  • Payment processing: Stripe and PayPal, to handle Coin and Premium purchases securely.
  • Email delivery: our email provider, to send verification codes, receipts, and account notifications.
  • Push notifications: our push notification service, if you enable browser notifications.
  • Hosting and database infrastructure: the companies that host our servers and database, who store data on our behalf under contracts requiring them to protect it and use it only as we instruct.
  • Call connectivity: TURN/STUN relay providers used only to help establish a direct audio/video connection between two members' devices when needed — they do not have access to the content of your calls.

Legal and safety situations

  • We may disclose information if required by law, subpoena, or valid legal process, or where we believe in good faith it's necessary to protect the safety of a member or the public, investigate fraud, or enforce our Terms.

Business changes

  • If NkemLove is ever involved in a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, member information may be transferred as part of that transaction, subject to the same protections described in this policy, and we'll notify you if that ever affects how your data is handled.

6. How long we keep your information

We keep account and profile information for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, we remove or anonymize your personal information within a reasonable period, except where we're required to keep certain records for legal, tax, fraud-prevention, or safety purposes — for example, we may retain a record that a specific account was banned for a policy violation, without keeping the full profile, so a bad actor can't simply delete and recreate an account to escape a ban.

Identity verification evidence (ID documents and selfies) is retained only for as long as needed to complete review and maintain an audit trail of the decision, and is deleted on a schedule separate from — and shorter than — your general account data.

Message content is retained for as long as the conversation exists, so you and the other person can see your own history, and may be retained longer if it's part of an active safety investigation.

7. Your rights over your information

Wherever you are, you can access, update, or delete most of your information directly from your account Settings — your profile, your photos, your visibility preferences, and your account itself.

If you're in the EU, UK, or a jurisdiction with equivalent protections, you additionally have the right to request a copy of the personal data we hold about you, request correction of inaccurate data, request deletion (sometimes called the "right to be forgotten"), request that we restrict certain processing, object to processing based on legitimate interest, and request data portability. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority if you believe we've mishandled your information.

If you're a California resident, you have rights under the CCPA/CPRA to know what personal information we collect, request its deletion, and opt out of any "sale" or "sharing" of personal information as those terms are defined under California law — to be direct about it, we don't sell personal data, so there's nothing to opt out of in that sense, but you can still make the request and we'll confirm that in writing.

To exercise any of these rights, email us at the address below. We'll respond within the timeframe required by applicable law, and we may need to verify your identity first to make sure we're not handing your data to someone impersonating you.

8. International data transfers

Our servers and service providers may be located in a different country than you are. Where we transfer personal data internationally — for example, from the EU to a service provider located elsewhere — we rely on legal safeguards such as Standard Contractual Clauses or an equivalent recognized mechanism to make sure your data continues to receive an appropriate level of protection no matter where it's processed.

9. How we protect your information

Passwords are stored as salted cryptographic hashes, never in plain text. Sensitive verification evidence is kept isolated from public-facing systems so it can never accidentally surface in search, discovery, or chat. Access to member data within our own team is limited to what's needed for the task at hand, and administrative access is logged. We use encrypted connections (HTTPS) across the site and app.

No system is perfectly secure, and we can't promise otherwise — what we can promise is that we take this seriously, treat security incidents as urgent, and will notify affected members and, where legally required, regulators, if a breach affecting personal data ever occurs.

10. Age requirement and children’s privacy

NkemLove is strictly for adults 18 years of age or older. We do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 18. If we become aware that someone under 18 has created an account, we will close it and delete the associated data as quickly as possible. If you believe a minor is using NkemLove, please report it to us immediately using the contact details below or the in-app reporting tools.

11. Cookies and similar technology

We use a small number of cookies and similar local storage technologies to keep you logged in, remember your preferences, and understand basic, aggregated usage of the site so we can improve it. We don't use these to build advertising profiles or track you across unrelated websites.

12. Changes to this policy

If we make a material change to how we handle your information, we'll update the date below and, where the change is significant, notify members directly — through the app, by email, or both — rather than relying on you noticing a quiet edit to this page.

13. How to reach us

Questions, requests, or concerns about this policy or your data can go to support@nkemlove.com or through our in-app Help Center. If you're in the EU or UK and have appointed a Data Protection Officer contact, that will be listed here as well: N/A.
